FAIRVIEW FAMILY DIRECTORY

Chair: Ela Asllani

The Fairview Family Directory committee chair is responsible for working with the Fairview Directory of Technology to coordinate the upload of data to the digital directory. The chair also provides technology support when families have questions related to directory access

MEMBERSHIP

Chair: Katie Hitik and Sylvia Guliana

The membership committee is in charge of managing PTA membership. We encourage and remind families to sign up for PTA membership through our social media pages, digital backpack, and at PTA events. We are in charge of maintaining an updated membership list via our memberhub page.

SPIRITWEAR

Chair: Xochitl Leinbach (Katie Hitik and Sylvia Guliana

The spiritwear committee is in charge of hosting spirit wear sales throughout the year. We coordinate with a vendor and decide on items to sell, manage sales, sort, and deliver items to school.

WINTER DANCE AND
BINGO NIGHT

Chairs: Alenka Vasilj and Christine Sojka

The Winter Dance and Bingo Night committee is responsible for planning our annual Winter Dance, which will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022. Our annual event is a family friendly night with food, a photo booth, DJ, bingo, and prizes!

SUPPORT STAFF BREAKFAST

This committee works to shower the support staff with a delicious breakfast, a little goodie bag and some raffle prizes on April 27, 2022.

ROOM PARENT

Chairs: Katie Hitik & Sylvia Guliana

Our responsibility is to gather and assign room parents/guardians for each K-4 classroom. We also assign budgets, to each Lead Room Parent/Guardian for their room parties, as well as supply a budget for Teacher Appreciation Week. The "budget" is assessed by donations to the PTA via the "Room Party & Teacher Appreciation Fund". Chairs are responsible for helping the lead parents in each room to coordinate class parties along with assisting and filling in to help out classes or room parents/guardians with their classroom parties. Events include: Fall Fun Party, Winter Holiday Party, Valentine's Day Party, and End of Year Party. Dates for classroom parties vary every year. Our main job for this committee is to make sure that the children have a great experience, because they deserve it!

BOOK FAIR

The Yearly Book Fair always occurs the week of Parent Teacher Conferences in February. All funds raised go directly to the Fairview Library. Part of our responsibilities for this committee are: schedule/set up/take down the Book Fair, as well as coordinate with our librarian to make sure we have a great selection of books and products for everyone to enjoy. We also create a sign up for parents/guardians to volunteer their time to help. The book Fair is 3 days long, and requires a lot of time and volunteers! It is truly a highlight of the children's school year.

SCHOOL SUPPLY

Chairs: Kejal Shah and Xochitl Leinbach

The PTA works with an outside vendor to provide school supplies delivered directly to the classrooms before the first day of school for any Fairview student who signs up online. This event requires coworking with the school supply vendor to ship the supplies to the school, communicating with the school to get an updated school supply list, coordinating the shipment and set up of the school supplies in the classroom, and coordinating the volunteers to work in the gym to sort, organize and label the supplies. This is a service to the families as well as a fundraiser for the PTA. Many volunteers are needed to make this event a success.

LITTLE LIBRARY

Chairs: Steve Larenas and Xochitl Leinbach

This is a partnership with the Skokie Park District. The chairs monitor the Little Library in Schack Park.

MOVIE ACTIVITY NIGHT

Chairs: Mahzad Akbarpour and Xochitl Lein

This committee works with the PTA co-presidents to design and update the content on the PTA website.

This committee plans family activities and movie nights for the Fairview community.

MULTICULTURAL NIGHT

Chairs: Kejal Shah and Steve Larenas

This is one of our PTA events where families are invited to the school to share elements of their culture or ethnicity with other members of the school community through storytelling, dance, arts and many other things that make cultures unique. These events can help families feel more welcome in school while creating social connections within the community. The objectives for the event are:
• To educate students, families and school staff about the various cultures represented within the school community
• To build social connectedness among students, family members, school staff and community partners.

8TH GRADE DANCE/PARTY

This committee works to organize the 8th grade dance/party in celebration of their graduation. They usually have a DJ, food, and lots of fun dancing and celebrating.

8TH GRADE RECEPTION

This committee hosts the reception following the 8th grade graduation ceremony.

HALLOWEEN PARTY

To celebrate the fall season we host our annual PTA Halloween Party. This event is where students, families, and staff can get together for a fun event for everyone to dress up in costumes (not mandatory), play games, win prizes, enjoy lots of treats from the bake sale, and dance along to the DJ's spooktacular music!

CULTURAL ARTS COMMITTEE

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK/LUNCHEON

Chairs: Diana Diakakis, Jessica Sherman, Antonia Terihaj, Kristina Fleck, Denise Moulinos

This committee plans special assemblies at school. It works closely with the school administration to bring cultural arts to Fairview.

Every year in May we host a week of activities to show our support for our amazing Fairview teachers. We also host a luncheon for the teachers. This committee was once two committees and has recently combined for organizational purposes.

CONNECT FOR RESPECT 5K

The Connect for Respect 5K Run/Walk is an annual PTA event, which is held in the month of September. This event is for the whole family. While the 5K helps to raise money for school programs, its primary goal to create a wellness and fitness campaign that the kids can share with their families. To make this more exciting, we also have a DJ and great raffle prizes! Please make sure to check out our 5K video from September 11, 2021!

BOX TOPS

Chair: Zumrut Ozkaymak

Box tops have gone digital! You can download the Box Tops app and scan your grocery receipts to help raise money for our school. PTA offers contests to encourage the collection of box tops. For more information regarding this program, check out www.boxtops4education.com

STRESS FREE FUNDRAISING

Chair: Kejal Shah and Stacy Roth

Every month we have a series of fundraisers that require minimal planning and preparation. Local restaurants and businesses participate by donating a portion of their proceeds from that evening back to the PTA.

PARENT RECREATION LEAGUE (ON HOLD)

This is a new committee formed to create opportunities for parents to get together and play sports, build community and friendships among Fairview parents. If interested in helping to organize, please email the PTA.
